BLAZE Sports - Boccia Saturday

This Saturday (10/10), join our BLAZE Sports program as we introduce the paraolympic sport of Boccia.

Boccia (pronounced /ˈbɒtʃə/, BOCH-ə) is a traditional recreational sport for athletes who require a wheelchair because of physical disability. Also known as bocce, it’s name is derived from the latin word for ball – bottia. It was originally designed to be played by people with cerebral palsy but now includes athletes with other severe disabilities affecting motor skills. In 1984 it became a Paralympic sport, and in 2008 was being practiced in over fifty countries worldwide. Boccia is governed by the Cerebral Palsy International Sports and Recreation Association(CPISRA) and is one of three Paralympic sports that have no counterpart in the Olympic program.

We will be meeting in the Charley Taylor gymnasium from 12pm-2pm Saturday.  Hope you can join us!

Tee-Ball Updates!!! Please READ

Due to Halima, our league coordinator being out ill this week and spots still remaining for the league, we are postponing the start date of the league one week from Saturday, October 10th now to Saturday, October 17th

As seen above, NO GAMES will be played on Saturday, October 10th.

We are also extending the registration deadline until next Wednesday, October 7th.  So if you know of any additional 3-5 year olds that would be interested in playing, please pass the word on that we have more spots for a limited time until Wednesday the 7th.  If we by chance have a flood of participants before Wednesday we will immediately post that registration is closed.

We will begin calling everyone regarding the league (for those who have already registered) starting around end of week to let you know what teams you will be on.  Practices will be determined by the coaches.  Halima will provide that information to you once finalized.

PLEASE NOTE THESE DATE CHANGES FOR THE NEW START DATE OF TEE-BALL!

If you have any questions, please contact us at the rec center (972) 264-6890.  We apologize for the change of date, but feel this is for the best to make sure we accurately get everything ordered and finalized before the league begins.  Thank you in advance for your understanding.
